Contingency planning for your business

If you’ve an urgent need for alternative water supplies, please call Water Direct on 0345 345 1725 (anytime) and state you’re a Wave customer. They’ll be able to provide you an instant quote for support.

Be prepared in a water emergency

From time-to-time losses of supply, either due to issues on the public or your own private networks, are inevitable. Wave’s range of alternative water supplies and contingency planning services give you the means to effectively plan for, and respond to, supply interruptions when, or if, they do occur.

Contingency Planning Service

Putting a contingency plan in place allows you to not only highlight possible risks at your site but also help build resilience and mitigate any potential costs that may be caused by an unforeseen interruption to your water supply. To collect the information required, our partners, Water Direct, will carry out a site assessment and work with you to create a tailor-made contingency plan for your business.

Site assessment

The assessment will review your site’s current contingency arrangements for water, including a review of emergency plans (a statutory requirement for some sites). You’ll also receive practical recommendations for how and where emergency water supplies (tankers and/or bottled water) can be procured and delivered to your site, avoiding issues like cross contamination.

Your final plan

Enjoy peace of mind knowing your business has a tailored contingency plan, stored with our partners and available 24 hours a day.

Your final contingency plan will consist of:
  • Receiving contingency planning advice and information.
  • Receiving emergency signage.
  • Receiving emergency cards.
  • Reasonable endeavours level response.
  • Site specific risk assessment.
  • A written contingency plan, available 24/7, to ensure smooth delivery.
  • Advice on engineering works, system management and mitigation of supply interruption.
  • Trading account with Water Direct (subject to status).

Your business’ water contingency plan expires every year so to keep it up to date, you’ll need to renew it annually. This comes at an additional cost so speak to our team to find out more.

Emergency Water Provisions

A disruption to your water supply can mean little or no water is reaching your site. Emergency water provisions can offer support by minimising the impact on your day-to-day operations and helping your business avoid closing completely.

Our expert partners, Water Direct, offer the following alternative water supply options:

Emergency Tankered Water Supply

A fleet of emergency tankers that can reach your site within hours, ready with a bulk supply of clean drinking water.

Temporary Storage Tank Provisions

If you want to plan for an emergency but don’t have suitable storage on site, consider static water tanks. They’re available on a pre-planned basis and Water Direct can supply tanks on a rental basis to suit your business’ needs.

Bottled Water Provision

Stocks of bottled water can be supplied by the pallet and they’ll be with you quickly.
