Wave is one of the top 100 female-led businesses in UK

Lucy Darch, CEO of Wave has been included in the E2E Female 100 Track in association with the Independent. The list celebrates female-led organisations based in the UK that have shown consistent employee growth and robust business strategies over the last 12 months.

Commenting on the business’ inclusion within the track, Lucy said, “We’re delighted to be included in the E2E Female 100 this year. Having led the company since its beginning, I’m incredibly proud of all we’ve achieved over the last seven years. As a business we’re in a great place, in terms of financial resilience, our customer experience and reputation which is demonstrated by the array of awards we’ve won.

Wave is the only utility company to make the list and is proud to be bucking the trend within the utilities industry thanks to our gender diverse workforce.

Lucy continued, “From a personal perspective I want Wave to lead the way, not only as a water retailer but as an employer and we’re proud to be a business where women can thrive. According to a survey carried out by The Women’s Utilities Network in 2022 just 17% of the energy and utilities workforce was female, here at Wave, 66% of our senior leadership team and 60% of all our employees are female. Our flexible working and family friendly policies mean women have the tools and support they need to help them excel in their career.”

Speaking about the track, Shalini Khemka CBE, founder of E2E says: “The E2E Female 100 has allowed us to highlight the amazing companies throughout the UK. These are companies that, despite a challenging economy and in fact a challenging few years, have generated exceptional turnover results and are continuing to grow at a rapid rate. Here’s to seeing every company on this track continue to scale up, grow and achieve amazing things both in the UK and in some cases, internationally.
